Mr Divani is a consultant orthopaedic spinal surgeon with a specialist interest in managing patients with adult degenerative spinal conditions. He works at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust where he is also an Honorary Associate Clinical Professor, leading the undergraduate orthopaedic module for University College London. Mr Divani sees patients with a range of spinal conditions including nerve pain and sciatica, back pain and associated deficits. His surgical armamentarium is vast and includes conventional open techniques as well as minimally invasive, microsurgical and image-guided techniques to treat pathologies including herniated discs, instability and spinal stenosis. He is also proficient in the use of modern technological advancements in the form of navigation and robotics.
Mr Divani graduated from St Bartholomews & The Royal London School of Medicine & Dentistry with an award and 1st class Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery. He went on to complete his higher training in Trauma & Orthopaedics on the prestigious Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital rotation, where he completed both membership and fellowship examinations with the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He also obtained a Master of Science with Merit in Trauma & Orthopaedics at University College London. On completion of his approved training programme, Mr Divani spent a further two years on complex spine fellowships at tertiary trauma and elective centres with mixed orthopaedic and neurosurgical background, further refining his skill set.
Mr Divani recognises the complexity and intricacies around spinal surgery and the devastating impact spinal pathologies have on his patients. He strives to deliver patient-centred care and prioritises his patient’s needs at the centre of every conversation. Using this approach, he is able to tailor individualised management plans making evidence-based decisions.
On a personal note, Mr Divani lives in North London with his wife and young son. He is a keen mountaineer, with some of his most spectacular summits including Mont Blanc, Gran Paradiso and Everest Base Camp. He also enjoys cycling and has completed a number of city rides, with London to Paris, Milan to Monaco, London to Amsterdam & Amsterdam to Bruges being a few amongst many others. Mr Divani particularly enjoys the health benefits that accompany these challenges. He also finds them a great opportunity to destress and socialise.
